I Love Being a Mom

These past few weeks have been long and hard. We have had a lot of things happening, some good and a lot bad. The girls have been busy with soccer and dance. Kylie made 2 goals the other day. Yea KYLIE. We're finally back on track with our school routine. All very good things to have going on in your life. You know the saying "when it rains it pours", so true at less for the Barker house the past few weeks. Janika, Xander, and I all need dental work done, sorry kids you got my bad teeth. Kylie bit through her lip and was border line for stitches. Kieron is being treated for acid reflux, way to much spitting-up has been happening. Our 3 year old Tv is going out slowly, ok that may not be that bad of a thing. And for the grand finale............................................
the engine in Sam's car blew out. So now we have to make the decision to rebuild the engine or buy a new car. Sam may be riding his motorcyle for along time and it's starting to get cold.

So you ask what this has to do with the title "I Love Being a Mom".
Well after having a crazy few weeks and ready to cry at any moment. I found this on my pillow tonight. I love my kids. This simple picture and four little words, "I love you Mom" make it all worth it.

Soccer 2012

Soccer season is in full swing at the Barker house. Our September is book solid with games and practices for Janika and Kylie. Some how, no pure luck. we only ended up having 1 game at the same time, luckly the fields were back to back.

This is Kylie's first year of soccer and she is amazing. She's very
determine to get a goal and does everything she can do to catch up with the ball. Kylie is a tiny thing and loves everything girly, but don't let that deceive you. She is very fast and aggressive soccer player. I love to watch her play.

Look at that kick!

Janika is in 2nd grade soccer and in her 4th season of soccer. At the end of every season she says that she not sure if she'll play
the next season. Then when it's time to sign up she always wants to play. The past spring season she loved and really got in to the game. She has had some amazing coachs, minus her kindergarten coach(me). Janika has improved so much and doing awesome. This Saturday she played goalie for a quater, and didn't let a single goal happen.

Kieron 9 Months Old

Wow time has flown by, Kieron is now 9 months old. This kid is growing so fast, I wish i could just pause time and keep him a baby. Kieron is doing big boy things and amazes me everyday. Kieron's personality is showing more and more everyday. He loves he's food and has learn to throw a pretty cute fit when he doesn't get it. Right now he's favorite thing to do is spit. He spits when he laughs, drinks his milk, eats his baby food, and he even spits his binkie, which he loves.

I look at this cute boy and think how blessed we are to have him in our family. He has added so much to our family. When Sam and I look at our family we know he fits right in. We also look at him and we realize that he needs another sibling. One that looks like him. One that is adopted like him. Kieron needs a brother or sister that he can relate to. We have decided that we are going to start the adoption process after Kieron turns 1, January.

1st Day of School

Today was the first day of school in Twin Falls. The girls were very excited, especially Kylie. She has been counting down the days all summer long. Janika is in 2nd grade and Kylie is in kindergarten this year.

On the way to school and very excited.

Kylie in her class room, ready to start the day.

 Such a pretty girl

Kylie was very happy to see her mommy, but ready to go back tomorrow. Both girls had a blast at school and talked about it all afternoon. I asked them if they cried at all and  both said NO. They were very quick to tell me how many did. They also had to tell me about all the moms that were crying. I just had to laugh because as I walked back to my car this morning. I saw a lot of moms in their cars trying to fix their make-up from the tears. Been there done that. I'm proud to report that I handled myself very well. My eyes only clouded over once when Kylie gave me a hug good bye.

Twin Falls County Fair 2012

Labor day weekend we went to the county fair. The kids love to go there every year. To me it's the same things every year, same vendors, same tractors, same rides that are over priced, and so on. I think having the same things every year is what the kids love about the fair. They know that they will always see the horses, rabbits, and pigs. They know that there will be a petting zoo where they can feed the goats and see baby pigs or goats. Seeing their faces when they see all of these things is why we go.

Okay there were a few new things this year that the kids enjoyed that was pretty cool. They added a hands on music section with instruments from different parts of the world.

Kieron loves music and drumming on things. So even little man enjoyed this part of the fair.

We have a picture of the kids in this prop every year from the time Janika was one. This year was even cuter with Kieron in it.

The Seed  Pool
Kieron knew he wasn't suppose to eat the seeds, but still tried. I would tell him no, then he would give me this smile.

Feeding the goats, is the kids favorite part. Xander was so cute to watch, he had to make sure that every goat got some food. Big or small.

They're Growing SO Fast

A little update: Kieron is crawling everywhere and getting into everything. He also has learned to pull himself up. He'll be walking before we know it. I'm diffinetly not ready for that.

Kylie was invited to a princess party and dress up as Rapunzel.
Xander and Kieron have started to interact with each other a lot. Kieron loves his brother and wants to do what ever he's doing. Xander is pretty good at letting Kieron play with him, most of the time. The new favorite thing to do together is play on Xander's car. Xander will push Kieron for a while and then they switch spots.

See the love

Janika has been such a big help this summer. I have been able to take the kids to movies, park, and swimming with out Sam, all because of her. She loves to help with her brothers. I have some pretty amazing kids.

Happy 7th Birthday Janika

Janika celebrated her 7th Birthday on Thursday. I can't believe its been 7 years. She's growing so fast and I wish there was a way to stop and rewind a few years. This is how I will always remember her.
Baby Girl
For the first 6 months or so, Sam called her "Baby Girl". I don't ever remember him calling her Janika. Some of the people at Sam's school thought we hadn't named her. Even now I hear "Baby Girl" from him.

Janika's day started with presents from mom and dad. She got some high heels that she "really really" wanted. Her cousin got the same ones for her birthday in July and Janika needed to have the same ones. Its been funny to watch her try to walk in them.

In the afternoon she had her friend Maddi over for a play-date and lunch at Arctic Circle. These girls had a blast playing with each other.

Through out the day she had presents coming to the house. Grandma Barker and Valerie came with a present that had 11,000 beads to make whatever she wants(thanks Polly). The mail man also delivered a package from Grandma Angus and Papa that had make up and a puzzle. She's getting to the age that all the things her wants have tiny pieces, not so fun with Kieron crawling. I guess that's life.

For dinner Janika picked La Fiesta a local mexican restaurant. There they put a sombrero on her and sang Happy Birthday to her. After that they had her smile for a picture but she wasn't doing it right. So they showed her how to smile with a whip cream smile on her face. It was sooo funny, although she didn't find it as amusing as Sam and I did.

This year Janika had no idea what she wanted for her cake. She went from Hello Kitty, Brave, Princess Tiana, rainbow, then to a pink and purple cake. After all the different ideas she couldn't make a final decision. So Wednesday night she went to bed not knowing what she wanted, I had to decide for her and this is what I came up with.
I love how it turned out.
