Light Display in the South Hills

I love Christmas lights. I love driving around town at night and looking at everyone's lights. I would have the Griswold lights if I had a ladder that would reach the top of our house. One year it will happen and my neighbors will just love me. There are a few places around town that we see every year.  One being in the south hills, they are so fun. There's lights of every kind, a village display, nativity scene, and a camel that the kids can feed.

Xander was cold and let everyone know.

Kieron was in awe of all the lights.

Janika and Kylie picked their favorite display to have their picture taken with.

Kieron's 1st Birthday

WOW, its been a year. I can hardly believe it. Didn't we just bring Kieron home a month ago. This little boy has been such a blessing in our family. He has the best personality, smile and laugh. This little boy melts everyone's heart with his sweetness. Kieron is loved by so many people.
The days leading up to his birthday, I found myself full of emotion. I was remembering the day we   were matched and praying that the third time would be the one. Then the day that we met Kieron's wonderful birth-parents and how brave they were. We love you guys. Kieron loves you guys. He loves to look at his picture of his amazing birth-parents. He has a smile on his face when he looks at it. He is a very lucky boy that has 2 sets of  parents that love him to no end.

I now find myself drawn to anything with chocolate kids on it. I'm constantly looking for books with chocolate kids in them. I read anything with adoption on it, books, signs, ect.
The favorite saying in our house is,"Superman was adopted". I started to really think about it and realized that here are a lot of super heroes that were adopted in one way or another. So when it came to think of a theme for his birthday I had to pick a super hero one. We went with Spiderman, Batman, and of course superman(Sam is a little obsessed).

Kieron loves food. He screams when he see it. You would think I starve the kid. I thought he would destroy his smash cake. But he just picked at it not wanting to get messy. He didn't get into it until I gave him a fork. Then the monster came out.
When it came to presents he wasn't sure what to do with them. Xander quickly showed him how and then there was no stopping Kieron. He now thinks that every present is his and it need to be open. So, no more presents under the tree till Christmas.

Kieron received lots of cars(which he loves), bath toys, books, and his first Piggy bank.

Kieron is Walking

The past few weeks Kieron has been standing by himself. He would take a step, fall down and laugh. He thought it was funny to fall. Then this weekend he started to take a few more steps and even maked it across the living room. He averages about 4-5 steps then falls down and then crawls.

The Start of the Christmas Season

The Christmas season has officially started at the Barker's. We kicked it off with Janika's 2nd grade Christmas play, "The Littlest Christmas Tree". Janika played Mrs. Clause and did awesome. She was so excited for the play. She knew all her parts along with everyone else's. She knew every song even the ones that others sang. All of the 2nd graders did a great job, it was very cute.

The second thing that we did to start the season off right, was go to our church Christmas party and visit with Santa.
Kylie asked for a Kindle Fire, really Kylie. Luckily Santa said he'll see what he could do and didn't promise any thing.
Janika asked for an art set.
Xander asked for candy, this boy loves he's treats. Santa then promised him a real gun and a horse, thanks Santa.
Kieron was in shocked by the whole thing. Santa also gave him a candy cane. So that night we let him have the candy cane and he devoured it. Now when he see's a candy cane he screams and cries for one.

Xander's 3rd Birthday

Xander's 3rd Birthday was today. I think I say this every birthday, but where has the time gone. I can't believe its been three years. It just seems like it was yesterday when I was trying everything to induce labor, yes even castrol oil. Xander can be the sweets boy and the naughtiest. He makes us laugh every day. He's all boy and loves anything that moves and being out side.

Xander spent his birthday with lots of family. My parents made a surprise visit from Reno for he's special day. Grandma Barker and Aunt Valerie also join us in the celebration.  He was spoiled with books, puzzles, a helicopter, train, ect...

The Cake
Xander loves so many things. So when it came time to pick his cake he wanted everything. He was all over the place from Jake and the Neverland Pirates to Superman to Mickey Mouse to Thomas to Spiderman. You get the picture, there's to many options and he wanted them all. After weeks of looking at different cakes he finally picked Thomas and Spiderman. I could work with that. We ended up with a Thomas cake with Spiderman climbing the backside. HE LOVED IT!
